Reset your skills
A simple mindset that will change your life.

"The educated, hardworking masses are still doing what they’re told, but they’re no longer getting what they deserve." – Seth Godin
That is today's letter.
There are many educated, hardworking people who every day:
Wake up
Go to school or work
Yet don’t get what they want, need, or deserve
This is happening because of the Two Big Lies in our lives.
The first lie is what the outer circle (Family, School, Workplace) says we need to do:
Study hard, get good grades, get a good job, hoping for better days.
The second lie is what the inner circle says, the lie we tell ourselves to convince us to continue:
Put your head down and keep going indefinitely.
The results of these lies are:
Losing our dreams
Losing our moments
Losing years chasing someone else's story
So what does this have to do with resetting our skills?
Everything.
The default skills ≠ The skills you Need to Reset your Life
From the moment we are born, we acquire skills to survive, then to communicate and interact with each other, and finally skills for work. And therein lies the problem.
These skills will only give you the bare minimum for survival in our little communities.
These skills will give you a ‘steady’ paycheck, enough to get by but not enough for more.
These skills will keep you repeating the rat race, not moving you even one step from where you started at the beginning of your career.
They will never give you the keys to the kingdom—the individual freedom.
So, what are those essential skills? I’m happy to answer:
Transferable skills: Skills that you can transfer from domain to domain (e.g., language skills like English, basic arithmetic, creating websites). These skills can be used in every domain with ease, without extra knowledge, but with extraordinary results when you master them.
Remote skills: Skills that you can use from wherever you are. From the time we come into the world, we explore, and this is why children are so happy to be around everything is new to them. We are explorers of the world—yet how many people forget to internalize this fundamental truth? The point is that remote skills will provide you the freedom to live and explore the way you want.
Examples Skills:
Communication skills: Writing, public speaking, active listening
Critical thinking: Problem-solving, analytical skills
Time management: Prioritizing tasks, setting goals
Teamwork: Collaboration, conflict resolution
Adaptability: Flexibility, open-mindedness
Digital literacy: Using various software and online tools
Project management: Coordinating tasks and teams remotely
Online communication: Video conferencing, remote collaboration tools
Self-discipline: Managing your own schedule and productivity
Technical skills: Coding, digital marketing, data analysis
I know I am not very specific, but that's the point. Everyone’s path is different, and the same goes for the skills. However, if the skills you pick up check both the boxes above, you are on a very good path to changing your life.
Productivity Snippet:
Do not multitask—our brain is single-threaded.
Stop obsessing over productivity hacks and start working on your list.
Slow down your activities to increase focus and calmness.
Write down every idea; you might forget it if you don't.
Did you find it useful?
Consider sending this to someone who might benefit from its message.
Until next time,
