Reset your New Years Resolution
A simple mindset that will change how you start something and keep going with it.
I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions because if you wait until that moment to change something in your life, you probably won’t. Every year, millions of people buy gym and diet subscriptions only to quit before they hit the second month.
However, I am very motivated by the Early New Year’s Resolution, which comes months before the original. You might start in September, October, or November. As long as you start before January 1st, you create momentum before the year begins. By the start of the year, you’ll have some progress, making it more likely you’ll keep going. Traditional resolutions don’t work that way because you don't see results yet, so you quit before any change happens.
Here’s what I suggest:
Before school starts, create a list of two things you want to accomplish in the new year.
Schedule the first one at the beginning of the next week (it doesn’t matter if it’s not the first day of the month). For example, I started learning HTML in this way from Codecademy, and it worked.
When you finish your first goal in the new year (assuming it takes you 3-6 months), schedule the second goal.
I hope this helps. See you in 2025!
